Data management

Every diagram is backed by a single graph. This chapter covers both sides of working with it, reading its state reactively and changing it, and asks who owns that state: the graph itself, your React state, or an external store like Zustand, Redux, or Jotai.

Accessing State

Controlled Mode

Choose who owns the graph in @joint/react, JointJS or your React state, and sync either one to a database with onCellsChange and onIncrementalCellsChange.

External State Management

Own the @joint/react graph from Zustand, Redux, or Jotai. Controlled mode is always the same two props, cells and onCellsChange.
